Could the New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals match up on a trade for the NFL Draft?
Nick Faria of Jets Nation has an intriguing proposal, suggesting that the Jets trade the No. 10 select and a sixth-rounder to the Bengals in trade for the 18th select and a second-rounder.
This would give New York some great draft money to incorporate some talent around Aaron Rodgers heading into 2024. Meanwhile, it would let Cincinnati to transfer up to choose a much-necessary offensive lineman.
But would the Bengals give up that significantly just to go up eight places?
A to start with and a 2nd-rounder would seem like an awful large amount for Cincinnati to surrender in this hypothetical trade. The Jets may perhaps be eager to do this for the 18th decide and a 3rd-rounder.
Equally teams are seeking to earn now. The Bengals are 3 seasons eliminated from achieving the Tremendous Bowl, and the Jets are obviously in championship-or-bust method with 40-12 months-previous Rodgers underneath centre.
This is a trade that would absolutely assist New York. There are rumblings that the Jets would like to pick out College of Georgia tight conclude Brock Bowers at No. 10, but with Tyler Conklin now on board, Gang Environmentally friendly doesn’t truly want Bowers. Going down to No. 18 and finding up a next-rounder would let the Jets to far better fill out the roster.
Cincinnati surely demands an offensive lineman, but giving up that more next-spherical pick (which is No. 49) would in all probability just be overkill for the club. The Bengals, much too, will need to insert far more items to the roster, in particular on the defensive aspect of the ball where they rated just 31st in the league very last season.
